Will and Alex have been living in the Alps for the past six years. Based in Chamonix until end of 2006, we decided to make the move south to the Oisans region. Since moving to the area we have fallen in love with the relaxed pace of life coupled with the diversity of outdoor activities literally on our doorstep, including the excellent skiing in the winter and the amazing biking opportunities in the summer. We live in the Lodge, but in our own separate apartment on the ground floor.
Aside from the French Alps, Will has lived and worked as a chef in mountain resorts in Canada and Switzerland, and on luxury yachts on the Med and in the Seychelles. His travels have seen him cater at the Sydney Olympics, the Monaco Grand Prix and even for Hugh Heffner’s Playboy party at the Cannes Film festival. However his love is with the French Alps where he has lived since 2000. In that time he has become a keen mountain biker, snowboarder and paraglider. As a final farewell to Chamonix and as a charity fundraiser, Will succeeded in climbing Mont Blanc in September 2006 (see the Mont Blanc video here).
Along with hosting at our Lodge, Alex works remotely from home for two international development charities and spends much of her time organising the funding of projects in the developing world. She also has fallen in love with the mountains and has become a keen skier.
Basil is the most recent and valued addition to our team. He was born in Chamonix and so subsequently also feels at home in the mountains. He is the calmest, most placid dog and a real asset to the Lodge. He sleeps downstairs and never goes up to the guest bedrooms. In fact he generally loves to be outside all day and is always happy for anyone to throw a ball for him or walk him down to the river.
